Conventionally, the history of the world is split into epochs based roughly on the millennia. This categorisation is not without controversy – some argue that it places too much emphasis on a Northern understanding of history, while others think it is overly simplistic and conflates a difference in numbers with a difference in overall eras. However, for many it provides a useful benchmark for understanding the world,

Very little is known about this era. The year 0 is understood to be the date of the creation of the world, and astrological and archeological records - as well as, in some cultures, extensive oral histories - appear to corroborate this. However, very little writing has survived from this period, and what writing we have is very fragmentary.
During this period, most people lived nomadic lifestyles. Settlements tended to be small and impermanent, though there do appear to have been a number of more permanent sites, primarily in the ancestral homelands of longer-lived races such as dwarves and elves. There is a lot of evidence for the worship of all eight main gods, though religious life does not appear to have been particularly organised.
The turning point for the start of the Settlement Era is generally said to be the foundation of Tismet by the legendary queen Jamara. This city would go on as the cornerstone of one of the world’s longest-lasting empire, enduring well into the third millennium.
During this period, we see a massive expansion in agriculture and settlements. Early domestication of animals and plants occurrs and the first real cities and civilisations start to emerge in this period, primarily in the [tismea], [somewhere above the ribbonsea], [basically where sinela is], [somewhere else in the south], [random places in Auratia I guess].
This period also sees the very early codification of magic. A few spellbooks from this era have survived, and show primitive attempts to make the arcane forces useful for everyday life. Similarly, religious life becomes more ordered. Temples have been found from this period, both to the individual gods and to the gods as a unity.
So called because, although we have a lot of historical records from this time, it can be difficult to distinguish between what is true, and what was embellished after the facyt. Cities of this time tend to have legendary founders, warriors who went on quests set forth by the Gods. The first Callelan Empire arose around this time, and the elves rose to prominence in both the North and the South.
3000-4000 classical civilisation exists and probably declines. last of the great classical empires explodes towards the end of the 4th millennium.
4000-5000 ddafaeg expansion in north west, auratia discovered, scramble for auratia but less problematic.
5000-6000 The imperial wars started towards the end of the last millennium come to a head with new techniques for warfare, significant advancements that basically plunge the world into a 1984-style hellscape. war eventually burns itself out as competence falls into incompetence and mismanagement and the world is brought to a standstill. Elves seclude, post-war economic boom leads to urbanisation and industrialisation. Increasing bureacratisation makes world a lot more efficient. Elves eventually come out of seclusion.
